A tribute to a good sport who puts up with a lot

That would be Frank Lombardi, the Senate's chief sergeant, who is retiring after decades of service to the state.

Lombardi knows more about the Capitol Complex than anyone. He worked for the Department of Personnel for 32 years, where he got to know the tunnels under the Capitol, is the best tour guide EVER, and another 16 years in the Senate.

A word to the wise – never stand next to Lombardi when he comes out on the balcony outside the Senate chambers to call lawmakers back, either for a division vote or a call of the Senate. Seriously, it's risky.
