Corrections officer accused of bringing contraband into jail, deputies say

NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (WAFB) - A corrections officer has been arrested after being accused of bringing contraband into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility, deputies said.

According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ali Grant, 27, is charged with malfeasance in office and taking contraband to/from a penal institution.

Deputies said the investigation began on Thursday, May 8, after they learned that some inmates may have been in possession of contraband. Investigators said they were able to determine that Grant brought the contraband into the jail.

The suspect remains behind bars pending a bond hearing.

Authorities said Grant has been terminated from his position. He had been employed since November 27, 2024.
