The Fontana Police Department advises drivers, motorcyclists and bicyclists to remain safe on the roads and follow various procedures during their commutes. Authorities also highlighted May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of safe driving.

“Motorcycles may be difficult to spot, so be extra careful before changing lanes,” said Fontana Police Department Sergeant Kurt Schlotterbeck.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 1,105 people killed while bike riding in 2022, and an estimated 46,195 bicyclists were injured. Additionally, 6,218 motorcyclists were killed in traffic crashes in 2022, representing 15% of total highway fatalities for that year.
