BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested the person who allegedly fatally shot a man during a robbery at a Baton Rouge gas station.

Police said Latrell Daniels, 20, was taken into custody on Tuesday, May 13, for the fatal shooting of Alejandro Gonzales-Martinez, 30. Daniels is facing charges for first-degree murder and armed robbery.

The deadly incident happened around 12:15 a.m. on Friday, April 25, at the Exxon gas station on Airline Highway near Victoria Drive.

According to police, the suspect robbed and shot the victim and left the scene on a bicycle. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Daniels has a criminal arrest history for simple burglary and theft, authorities confirmed.
