Cheers star George Wendt died from cardiac arrest, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced on Thursday.

Wendt, known for his iconic role as barfly Norm on the hit NBC sitcom, died on May 20 at his Los Angeles home at the age of 76. In addition to cardiac arrest, the report cited congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease and hypertension as underlying causes, with end-stage renal disease and hyperlipidemia listed as significant contributing conditions, according to TMZ .
