Marvel Studios took a breather in 2024, releasing only one major film (Deadpool & Wolverine) and a couple of live-action TV series (Agatha All Along, Echo). But the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to make a thunderous return in 2025. A whopping nine MCU feature films and TV series are slated to arrive in movie theaters and on Disney Plus this year.

Believe it or not, that’s the calm before the storm. As announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Marvel has two retooled, newly Kang-less Avengers films coming in the next few years, which will see Robert Downey, Jr. starring in MCU movies again — but in a very different role, as the villainous Doctor Doom.
