The Walton Raiders swept two-time defending state champion Lowndes 7-0, 10-3 to capture the state title and climbed to No. 1 after entering the playoffs No. 6 in the poll. Etowah was ranked No. 1 for the entire season and finished the year at No. 3 after falling 4-3, 4-1 to No. 2 Lowndes in the semifinals. North Gwinnett finishes at No. 4 after its run to the semifinals where the Bulldogs fell to state champion Walton in three games. North Paulding finished the year at No. 5—giving Region 5 three teams in the top 5 with No. 1 Walton, No. 3 Etowah and the Wolfpack. Buford, Parkview, Brookwood, East Coweta and Tift County round out the top 10.
