Statesville native Logan Davidson delivered his first Major League Baseball hit Sunday and helped the Oakland A’s snap an 11-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
A first-round draft pick by the A’s in 2019, Davidson drove a pitch that bounced off the left-field wall for a two-run double in the first inning.
The 27-year-old, who was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the week, finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. He struck out in his only at-bat Saturday, when he made his Major League debut.
Following his sophomore year in high school, Davidson transferred from Statesville to Providence in Charlotte where he finished his high school career. In 2016, he was named the N.C. Gatorade Player of the Year.
