HONEA PATH, S.C. (WSPA) - Two arrests were made Monday after an eight-month-old was removed from an Upstate home where police uncovered unsanitary conditions, including deceased animals.

The Honea Path Police Department charged Kayla Renard and Nicholas Michael Foley with unlawful conduct towards a child and ill treatment of animals following an investigation at a Honea Path home.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Shirley Avenue at the request of the Department of Social Services, which expressed concerns about an unsafe environment for the infant.

During the investigation, officers reported that there were severe conditions that put the infant at risk. Police uncovered numerous animals, including raccoons, rabbits, dogs, cats and chickens, along with animal feces and waste through
