While officials along the southern part of the Jersey Shore described a relatively calm Memorial Day weekend, things appeared to be more restless in at least one northern shore town.

Police in Seaside Heights said they arrested more than 70 people and shut down the Boardwalk overnight Sunday after three people were stabbed in separate incidents.

Fifty-two adults and 21 juveniles were arrested between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday, Seaside Heights Detective Steve Korman said, according to NJ.com . No arrests were made in the stabbings.

Borough officials had entered the weekend with a plan to prevent violence from breaking out on the Boardwalk after similar incidents happened last year over the holiday weekend, NJ.com reported.
