GARDEN CITY, Idaho — Kicking off his second season as the manager of the Pioneer Baseball League’s Idaho Falls Chukars, Tory Percival found himself coaching against his former team, in the city where his pro career began.

“I loved Boise. It was a brand-new stadium when I came in. It was state of the art, probably the nicest stadium we played in all year,” Percival said of his two seasons playing for the Hawks. “It was great. The fans were great. It’s a great city.”

Drafted by the California Angels in 1990, Percival originally joined the Boise Hawks as a catcher.

"I felt like I could make it to the big leagues as a catcher and then realized real quick that my offense wasn’t quite good enough,” he said.

However, his arm was certainly good enough.
