SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A Shreveport man has been arrested after he reportedly caused a serious wreck on the interstate while driving drunk.

The Shreveport Police Department says on May 24 just after 11 p.m., officers responded to a major wreck at the intersection of I-49 and Hollywood Avenue.

Police say according to witness reports, a green car ran a red light and hit a black Toyota 4Runner. Officers on scene talked to the driver of the green car, who was identified as Richard Roberson. Officers say they immediately smelled a strong scent of alcohol coming from Roberson and arrested him.

Police say they tried to give Roberson a sobriety field test, but that he was uncooperative and refused to follow directions.

The person in the 4Runner was seriously injured and taken to the hospital
