YORK, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- York County officials issued a statement on Tuesday addressing growing public pressure to halt operations at the Silfab Solar facility in Fort Mill.

The county clarified it cannot issue a cease-and-desist order or revoke Silfab’s permits, since those powers lie with the courts, not the York County Council.

In 2022, Silfab received zoning approval for its panel manufacturing facility, and in 2023, entered an incentive agreement with York County. Legal challenges came in 2024, and two lawsuits related to the project are still pending.
