“Forever chemicals,” formally known as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), are synthetic chemicals that do not break down naturally and persist in the environment and the human body. They are widely used in various products due to their ability to resist grease, oil, water, and heat. These chemicals have been linked to several health problems and are a growing concern due to their widespread presence in drinking water and other products.

Senate Bill 72 requires the Division of Public Health (DPH) to create a website where Delaware residents can find out the level of PFAS in their public drinking water systems.

They are required to publish this website and begin public monitoring and reporting by January 2026. The bill also requires enforcement of Federal Maximum Containment Level
