NEWARK - The tallest building south of downtown Newark, complete with commercial space and over 1,000 residential units, has been approved by the Central Planning Board after months of legal back-and-forth.

But this may not be the end of the road for the high-rise development, as a prerogative writ of action challenging the approval may be filed by the attorney representing Paramount Assets and other neighboring properties.

“Let them have their day in court,” said Attorney Calvin Souder, representing the applicant.

After nearly two hours of cross-examination and heated exchanges between attorneys, the Central Planning Board approved the Mulberry Pointe project in a 9-0 vote on May 19.
