HOUSTON (KIAH) — Rice Stadium, the old, iconic stadium in Houston that has hosted a Super Bowl and a presidential address, will have a new name later this fall.
That’s because Rice University athletics will be working with a sports marketing firm to find a naming rights partner for the 75-year-old stadium.
“It is more important than ever that we continue to be creative and open-minded as we explore new ways to invest in our student-athletes and ensure that we are providing them with a best-in-class experience,” Rice athletic director Tommy McClelland said.
Rice Stadium opened in September of 1950, becoming the biggest on-campus stadium in the Southwest Conference at the time.
