FLINT, MI -- Some Flint City Council members are warning of potential City Hall layoff notices if a proposed budget isn’t in place by a charter-imposed deadline of Monday, June 2.

Council members met on Tuesday, May 27, without voting on a general fund budget for the fiscal year that begins on July 1 and are scheduled to meet again on Wednesday, May 28, with the potential local government shutdown on the horizon.

Flint’s current budget expires on June 30, and the city charter requires a new budget be adopted no later than the first Monday in June.
