A man is being detained pretrial in DuPage County on charges that, as a felon, he illegally possessed guns.

Marcus Carroll, 30, of the 0-100 block of 154th Place, Calumet City, is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a repeat felony offender and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, according to a news release from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

According to a petition for pretrial detention, Naperville police were conducting surveillance in Aurora around 2:03 a.m. May 24. They reported seeing a parked vehicle in which there was a handgun — a Glock 43 9 mm, with a 50-round drum magazine — on the floorboard behind the front passenger seat.

The vehicle drove off. Police made a traffic stop and said Carroll was driving; they found the gun now
