OTTAWA COUNTY, MI — Consumers Energy met with Port Sheldon Township residents to discuss its interim plan for coal ash remediation after the Trump Administration last week blocked the utility’s plan to close Michigan’s largest coal-powered plant.

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy hosted a public meeting to review the remedial action plan Wednesday evening, May 28, at the Port Sheldon Township Hall.

The J.H. Campbell plant is situated on the shores of Lake Michigan in Port Sheldon Township of Ottawa County.
