The Gainesville Sun’s All-Area boys soccer team is officially here.

Heading into the season, few probably expected Keegan Lowry to be our Player of the Year. After all, he plays for Newberry – a team without a district title in over two decades.

Lowry and Co. made it their goal to change that. The Panthers captain, Lowry used his JROTC background to mold NHS into winners. He did, and Newberry began to pick up dubs.

It avenged a loss to Williston in the regular season by beating the rival Red Devils in the district semifinals. Then, it fended off a pesky Trinty Catholic squad to win that elusive district championship.

Along the way, Lowry led by example by being a phenomenal player. He scored remarkable balance with 17 goals and 23 assists for 57 points. His 23 assists rank 23 rd
