Legend Jenkins, a second-grader at H.H. Beam Elementary School, was crossing West Hudson Boulevard near the Gaston County Health Department Tuesday at around 6 p.m. when he was hit by a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 76-year-old woman from Gastonia, according to Gastonia Police .
