INDIANAPOLIS -- The state of Indiana is asking for federal assistance after the state saw severe storms, flooding and tornadoes in recent months.
According to officials with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Indiana Gov. Mike Braun requested a presidential disaster declaration through FEMA for federal assistance related to the March 30-April 9 disaster event.
According to previous reports, there were multiple storms throughout the state of Indiana in that span of time, including multiple tornadoes in Carmel and Brownsburg. Since then, Central Indiana has also seen other tornadoes, including one that caused damage in Monroe, Bartholomew and Brown counties in mid-May.
