CASSOPOLIS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was arrested a little more than six hours after he stole a police cruiser in Southwest Michigan, Cassopolis police say.

The Cassopolis Police Department said officers were trying to arrest the man around 1 p.m. Wednesday when he managed to get away, stole the marked police cruiser and drove off. Asking the public for help finding him, police warned the suspect was considered armed and dangerous.

Cassopolis PD flagged surrounding agencies, saying they responded "swiftly and collaboratively."

Police said the vehicle was found around 6:20 p.m. By about 7:20 p.m., officers had arrested the suspect on Shurte Street near O Keefe Road in LaGrange Township, a little north of Cassopolis. No one was harmed.
