Approximately 256,185 pounds of canned beef stew products have been recalled by Hormel Foods Corporation over concern of possible wood contamination.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the recall involves Dinty Moore Beef Stew sold in 20-oz. metal cans. The recalled products feature the lot code “T02045″ and a best by date of “FEB2028.” The lot code may also feature an additional number at the end.

The establishment number “EST 199G” is also printed on the recalled cans.

While no injuries have been reported due to the issue, FSIS says it received three consumer complaints from people who found wood in their stew. The products were distributed to retailers nationwide and the recall was announced on May 28.
