The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service recently announced that Hormel Foods Corporation, a Georgia-based business, is recalling approximately 256,185 pounds of canned beef stew as they may be contaminated with wood.

This recall is classified as a class 1 (high risk) recall as the product poses a health hazard in which there is a probability that the use of the product will result in serious consequences or death.

The products, which were shipped to retailers nationwide, were produced on Feb. 4, 2025 and feature establishment number “EST 199G” printed on the 20-ounce metal can.

The cans contain Dinty Moore Beef Stew and have “Best By Feb 2028″ and lot code T02045 printed on the exterior. The lot code could include an additional number at the end.
