BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The No. 1-ranked Virginia Wesleyan softball team wasted no time making a statement in the opening game of the NCAA Championship Tournament, shutting out Randolph-Macon 8–0 on the strength of explosive bats and a dominant pitching performance.

Morgan Tucker led the offensive charge in historic fashion, belting two home runs and driving in five runs to break the ODAC single-season RBI record. The slugger's three-run blast in the first inning set the tone early, and her two-run shot in the fifth iced the game in walk-off fashion via the NCAA run rule.
