The Department of Homeland Security today listed “Las Vegas City” as a sanctuary jurisdiction for immigration enforcement, writing in a press release that the hundreds of jurisdictions included “are deliberately and shamefully obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws.”
DHS wrote that it is demanding the listed cities, counties and states “revise their policies to align with Federal immigration laws and renew their obligation to protect American citizens, not dangerous illegal aliens.” The list was posted on DHS’ website.
Factors such as compliance with federal law enforcement as well as “information restrictions” and “legal protections for illegal aliens” determined which jurisdictions would be included, DHS wrote.
