FLORENCE — Odds will tell you that there's at least a 50% chance that the next South Dakota state Class B high school softball champion is going to come from northeastern South Dakota.
That's because Deuel, Castlewood, Florence-Henry and Mobridge-Pollock each posted SoDak 16 state-qualifying wins on Tuesday, May 27 and will make up half of the eight-team field for state June 5-7 at the Players Softball Complex in Aberdeen.
Top-seeded Deuel and third-seeded Castlewood are each back at state for a third-straight year — the sport has only been sanctioned three years in the state — and fifth-seeded Florence-Henry is another returnee from last year. Mobridge-Pollock is making its first trip to state.
Sioux Valley, another area school, earned its first trip to the state Class A tourney wi
