More living spaces are being added to Cupertino’s latest housing development.
The Cupertino City Council recently signed off on a new plan to increase the number of assisted-living housing units and reduce the retail and parking spaces at the Westport development, which is located next to Highway 85 in Cupertino at the site of the former Oaks Shopping Center.
The revision bumps up the number of assisted living units from 123 to 136, and reduces the retail space remaining from 17,600 to 4,000 square feet. An underground parking garage, which would have provided around 146 spaces, was also removed to “simplify construction and reduce costs,” according to the city. The updated plan will still include 35 memory care units. Construction is expected to begin within two to three years.
