(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump on Friday accused China of violating a trade agreement with the United States as tensions between Washington and Beijing persist.
In a social media post, Trump claimed China experienced civil unrest under his sweeping tariffs, leading Trump to make a "fast deal" for stabilization.
"Because of this deal, everything quickly stabilized and China got back to business as usual," Trump wrote. Everybody was happy! That is the good news!!! The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!"
The 90-day agreement, reached earlier this month, slashed Trump's sky-high tariffs on Chinese imports from 145% to 30%, while Beijing dropped its own from 125% to 10%.
