SILVER SPRING, Md. — A Silver Spring man convicted of committing two horrific and unrelated murders was sentenced Friday to three consecutive life sentences.

Torrey Damien Moore, 33, was convicted last year of the shooting deaths of his 26-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Denise Middleton, and their unborn, fetus ─ as well as a store clerk.

Moore is the first person convicted in the county for the murder of a viable fetus. Prosecutors say Middleton was eight and a half months pregnant when Moore shot her seven times inside their Silver Spring apartment in October 2022. He then left her body, and that of her unborn baby, to decompose in the apartment for nearly two months before authorities made the gruesome discovery.
