PORTLAND, Maine — Dozens gathered outside Portland City Hall on Friday, demanding the release of two Brazilian men: Lucas Segobia and Marcos Henrique.
Emotions were high as family members and supporters called their detainment unjust and asked authorities to let the men return home.
"We stand with Marcos and Lucas and say bring them home now," Jo Remillard, director of People’s Inclusive Welding, said.
According to Laura Anderson, Segobia’s fiancée, he and Henrique were pulled over during a traffic stop Monday night due to an off-centered license plate. The stop escalated into a federal immigration matter, and both men were detained.
