FARGO — A new restaurant appears to be setting up in the former Mexican Village location at 3155 45th St. S., in Fargo.

According to building permit information filed with the city, a company called Golden Empire Inc., has received a permit for interior demolition of the building, which will take place prior to any repair, replacement or restoration.

In addition, the city of Fargo has received an application to transfer the Mexican Village's liquor license to Golden Empire doing business as Phoenix Buffet.

That application is scheduled to go before the city's Liquor Control Board on July 16 and before the Fargo City Commission on July 21.

An individual connected to the project declined to comment at this time.

The Mexican Village restaurant on 45th Street closed at the end of 2024.
