NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- An anonymous TikTok user known as ‘Mr. Cash Drop’ is capturing the attention of thousands of social media users across New Jersey, giving away money as part of a scavenger hunt.

The cash drops began in late March. The TikTok videos show $20, $50, and even $100 bills stuck to the back of duct tape, and then posted on poles and signs across the state. The first person to identify and find the money gets to claim it.

So far, money has been discovered in Toms River, Jersey City, Point Pleasant, Newark, Atlantic City, North Arlington, Woodbridge, Kearny, Edison, and Brick.

“People are always trying to get there as fast as they can,” said Michael Potts-Demasi, who follows the scavenger hunt on TikTok. “I’ve seen people get there in two minutes.”
