SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (KOLO) - A Las Vegas man has been sentenced to 72 months in prison after a jury convicted him of stealing more than $7 million in treasury checks.
41-year-old Kyle Duncan-Carle will serve five years of parole after his release. He will also be required to pay more than $3.4 million in restitution.
From January of 2023 through September 2023, Duncan-Carle stole U.S. Treasury checks made out to individuals and companies. assumed the identity of the individuals whose names were on the check, opened credit union accounts under the assumed identities, and then deposited the checks and withdrew the funds.
The jury found the crimes were committed in Utah.
Duncan-Carle admitted that the scheme resulted in at least eight stolen treasury checks totaling approximately $7.9 mi
