CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Storms were moving across the Carolinas on Friday, bringing the potential of strong storms and power outages.

As of 4:45 p.m. on Friday, May 30, more than 2,100 Duke Energy Customers were without power across North Carolina and South Carolina, according to Duke’s outage map .

Most of those outages were in North Carolina, with a few hundred reported in South Carolina, at that time.

Power outages did not appear to be widespread by mid-afternoon on Friday. Storms that were moving through the region Friday had the ability to bring wind gusts up to 70 mph, which could damage trees and power lines, leading to power outages.
