WHEATON, Md. — As part of WUSA9’s ongoing mission to connect with and inspire local communities, reporter Alexis Wainwright visited Eastern Middle School in Montgomery County on Wednesday for Career Day.

Wainwright met with sixth through eighth grade students and led three engaging presentations, offering a behind-the-scenes look at life as a journalist. The students learned about the day-to-day responsibilities of a reporter, the skills needed to break into the industry and how storytelling can impact communities.

“Many students were surprised by how fast-paced the job can be,” Wainwright said. “But once they got to try it themselves, they were even more excited.”
