SEATTLE — Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson has canceled a multimillion-dollar grant program after KOMO News first highlighted how millions of taxpayer dollars were disbursed with very little oversight .
The Digital Navigators Program sought an additional $5 million in this budget cycle and was in the legislative package put before the governor, but Ferguson vetoed it.
It was part of $8 million in cuts to programs, studies, and task reports that fall under the Washington State Department of Commerce.
“If it's not completely aligned with kind of how we want to move forward, that might not be the best spot to keep investing,” Commerce Director Joe Nguyen said in an interview with KOMO News, citing the Navigators program.
Nguyen took over at the start of the year and said he is still tryi
