SPOKANE, Wash. — Earlier this morning over breakfast, city leaders and business owners discussed the future of downtown Spokane and what needs to happen for it to continue to grow.
Touching on achievements from this last year like record-breaking 2.6 million visitors and the close to 40 tons of trash cleaned up by crews in south downtown.
Foot traffic in downtown is not at the level where it should be and for the first time in the last five years, more businesses closed than opened in downtown because of it.
Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown says while the community's concerns for avoiding downtown are valid, leaders are doing what they can to make it a destination the community deserves.
