A Bell County grand jury indicted John Gitau Mwangi of Killeen on a first-degree felony charge of murder. He is accused of shooting and killing his wife, 37-year-old Esther Gitau, on Feb. 21. Both were active-duty soldiers stationed at Fort Cavazos, according to media reports.
Mwangi was booked into the Bell County Jail on Feb. 23, and he was being held without bond on Wednesday. The indictment occurred May 21. ×
