GILCHRIST, Texas (KIAH) – A man suspected in a double homicide in Gilchrist died by suicide early Saturday after leading authorities on a multi-county chase that ended in Beaumont, according to law enforcement.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a shots fired call around 11:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, in the 900 block of Kirkpatrick Road on Bolivar Peninsula. When deputies arrived, they found a man and a woman dead outside a home.

Witnesses told investigators that an argument broke out between two men and a woman before one of the men pulled a gun and shot the other man and the woman. The gunman then fled in a white vehicle. No word on the motive behind the murders.
