(WTVO) — Dozens of consumers have fallen ill as a salmonella outbreak continues to expand after a cucumber recall that was put into place by the FDA on April 29th.

The specific cucumbers that have been recalled are the ones grown by Bedner Growers and distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales.

The FDA and CDC are still investigating the outbreak as dozens of consumers in multiple states, including Illinois.

Salmonella infections can happen 12 to 72 hours after eating food that is contaminated.

Symptoms of Diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps can last from four to seven days, according to the FDA.
