NATCHITOCHES, La. (KSLA) - A man from New York has been sentenced for traveling to northwest Louisiana to engage in sexual activities with an underage girl.

The Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana Alexander Van Hook says Stephen Andrew Cipkin, 38, a former teacher from Suffolk County, New York, has been sentenced to prison for two counts of enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.

U.S. District Judge Dee Drell also sentenced Cipkin to a lifetime of supervised released after his 65-year prison term is served.

Cipkin pleaded guilty back on Aug. 13, 2024. At that hearing, officials with the DA’s office say Cipkin admitted that from January of 2022 through April 23, 2022, he used a smartphone and computer to persuade an underage girl to engage in sexual act
