WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - Xavier has been a force when it comes to tennis. That was no different on Saturday afternoon.
Gabriella Fleming won the singles state championship over Columbus Catholic’s Kate Holton. It was won in two sets, both in six games. It’s Fleming’s second state title as just a sophomore.
“I put in a lot of work for this moment. So it’s cool to see it pay off twice now,” said Fleming
Then in doubles, Xavier’s Ruby Smith and Isabel Tobin won the state title. They took down Dike-New Hartford’s Izzy Norton and Aidalyn Tott in two sets.
The champion duo was thrilled to win their first state championships together.
