LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Involved in another pitcher’s duel, Texas Tech picked up some timely hits to win 3-1 over UCLA Saturday evening in the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
Scoreless in the 5th, former Frenship Tiger Makayla Garcia came in to pinch run for NiJaree Canady after she doubled.
With Garcia on 3rd, she broke for home as the UCLA catcher threw the ball back to the pitcher sliding in safe to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead.
What a gutsy call to steal home.
UCLA responded in the bottom of the 5th as Kaniya Bragg hit a solo home run to tie it up at 1–1.
Red Raider Hailey Toney crushed a solo HR with 2 outs in the 6th to make it 2-1 Texas Tech.
With the lead, NiJaree Canady picked up two big strikeouts in the bottom of the 6th.
Tech added a massive insurance r
