CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Palo Duro Canyon’s 24 Hours in the Canyon kicked off Saturday morning to support local cancer survivors.

Almost 900 cyclists have come together from Canada, the U.S. Virgin Islands and 25 different states in the U.S. to support local cancer research.

The staff discussed the dedication and training their event requires, and the family atmosphere they feel every year.

“To be able to ride your bike for 24 hours is a big feat, and we like to kind of compare that to going through cancer treatment. I mean, it’s hard and it can be tough and challenging and takes a lot of work and a lot of people to help you. So there’s a very good parallel there,” said Ryan Parnell, event director for 24 Hours in the Canyon.
