A man who was shot and killed while working in his front yard was caught in crossfire between other people who were shooting at one another, according to search warrants filed by a Gastonia police officer.

Jeffrey Pleasant Carter, 39, was shot April 19 while in front of his house on Hawkins Street in Gastonia, according to police.
