Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a brisk and cloudy start to the second half of the weekend, with chilly conditions making it feel more like early spring than the first weekend of June.
As of early Sunday morning, temperatures in Downtown Newark hovered around 50 degrees, but the wind chill brought the real-feel down to a crisp 42.
Residents heading out to early worship services are advised to bundle up in warm coats despite the calendar reading June.
While today may feel unseasonably cool, the National Weather Service offers good news ahead.
According to the latest forecast, today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 68 degrees and west winds between 10 and 16 mph .
Tonight, skies will remain partly cloudy, with lows around 52 degrees.
