Can Scottie Scheffler do it again?
The last eight times he has held the 54-hole lead on the PGA Tour, Scheffler has gone on to win. Come Sunday, he has a chance to do it again.
Scheffler closed brilliantly Saturday at the 2025 Memorial Tournament, making four birdies in his final five holes to take the solo lead by a shot over Ben Griffin, who won last week, and the duo make up the last pairing heading into the final round at Muirfield Village.

Scheffler takes 4-shot lead to 18
Scottie Scheffler is one hole away from defending his title at the Memorial, earning his third win in his past four starts and 16th of his PGA Tour career. What a run.
Ben Griffin makes eagle, now 3 back
Ben Griffin makes an eagle on the par-5 15th, but Scottie Scheffler was able to make a birdie of his own and remains three ahead with three holes to play.
Scheffler's lead grows to 4
A month ago, Scottie Scheffler didn't have a win in 2025. He's about to win for the third time in the past five weeks. Scheffler's lead is now four with five to play after another Griffin bogey, and the best player in the world is going to tally another W to his resume is he can get to the house unscathed.
Scottie makes birdie, goes two ahead
Whelp, we have another two-shot lead for Scottie Scheffler, who had a brilliant up-and-down from left of the par-5 14th to get his second birdie of the day. Then Griffin, who had a much shorter putt for birdie, missed it on the low side. Scottie is back to 9 under and two in front with seven to play.
Ben Griffin gets within a shot
Scottie Scheffler's tee shot on 10 goes under a tree, forcing him to punch out into the fairway and try to scramble for par. He missed his par putt and makes his first bogey since Friday to drop back to 8 under. Griffin gets in with par, and Scottie's lead is back to one shot.
Sunday Yellow for Jack and Barbara
Notice the yellow ribbons and clothing players are wearing Sunday? It's for a great cause, #PlayYellow4Kids, a charity supported by Jack and Barbara Nicklaus that benefits children health through golf.
Scheffler gets first birdie at 7
The lead is back to two shots, as world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler makes birdie on the par-5 seventh hole to reach 9 under. Griffin makes par after an unlucky bounce on his second shot ends up in the rough. He scrambles for a 5 and walks away with a par.
Short miss for Scottie at first par 5
Scheffler started with 13 straight pars on Saturday, and he has five straight to begin Sunday after missing a 3 foot, 10 inch birdie putt on the par-5 fifth. Ben Griffin has two birdies, two bogeys and a par and is back to 7 under and a shot behind Scheffler.
The round of the day belongs to Brandt Snedeker, who signed for 7-under 65 playing on a sponsor exemption.
Scheffler's lead grows
One hole, and Scottie Scheffler's lead has already doubled. Ben Griffin missed the fairway at the first, and it resulted in a bogey. He drops to 6 under and two behind Scheffler.
Jordan Spieth nearly hits fan
That could've been bad. His tee shot on the opening par 4 went right into the rough, leaving him a difficult lie for his second. Well, he swung hard and the ball came out, but it almost decapitated a spectator. And guess what? He still made par. The Spieth experience is off and running.
Low scores are out there
What can we expect from the leaders Sunday? Perhaps some red. Brandt Snedeker was 5 under thru 7 holes in the final round, and lighter winds Sunday could lead to a bit more red. But trouble lurks everywhere at Jack's Place, so don't get comfortable.
What to watch for Sunday
We're not counting out the chasers, like Nick Taylor or Jordan Spieth among others, but it seems to be the Scottie Scheffler vs. Ben Griffin showdown at Muirfield Village. Scottie is 8-for-8 in his last eight chances when holding the 54-hole lead. Griffin has won two of his past five starts, including last week at the Charles Schwab.
Fun, fun day on tap. Scottie is easily the favorite, and don't forget he's the defending champion, but Griffin is playing the best golf of his life right now and like one of the best players in the world. The final round is set to be a blast.
