A driver and passenger are dead following a three-vehicle collision in Hamilton's Stoney Creek area early Sunday, police say.

Shortly after midnight, officers responded to a collision on Upper Centennial Parkway between Mud Street E. and Green Mountain Road, Hamilton Police Service said in a news release Sunday.

According to police, a Ford pick-up truck travelling south collided with a Chevrolet pick-up truck also going south. The driver of the Ford then struck a Kia travelling north head-on.

The Kia's driver and passenger were pronounced dead on the scene. The Ford driver went to hospital with "non-life threatening injuries" while the Chevrolet driver was uninjured, police said.
